Case Summary

On August 7, 2015, the plaintiff filed this pro se lawsuit against local election officials on the basis that he had been illegally discriminated against in violation of the Voting Rights Act. He filed suit in the Middle District of Tennessee. His claims related to voter identification requirements being enforced against him, and that he was harassed by poll workers and prevented from voting, despite having the proper identification.  The plaintiff filed this suit under a federal conspiracy statute, 18 U.S.C.A. 241. In addition, he filed suit under a state law called the "civil rights intimidation" law.

The case was assigned to Magistrate Judge Jeffery S. Frensley and Judge David M. Lawson.

On May 4, 2017, Magistrate Judge recommended that the case be dismissed. The following week, on May 19, the Court adopted the Magistrate’s recommendation and dismissed the case.

This case appears closed.
