Case Summary

(This summary is temporary while we research the case.) The State of Texas and Mayo Pharmacy filed suit against the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas. Plaintiffs challenged DHS' efforts to protect access to reproductive healthcare in the wake of Dobbs, efforts they alleged unconstitutionally required pharmacies to dispense abortion drugs in violation of their religious beliefs.
