Case Summary

(This summary is temporary, while we research the case.) On November 20, 2018, a group of people incarcerated at Lovelock Correctional Center in Nevada filed this pro se lawsuit against prison officials in the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada. The plaintiffs alleged that the defendants violated their right to religious exercise under the Constitution and the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act (RLUIPA) by taking away or rescheduling particular religious services. On August 12, 2022, the court granted summary judgment for the plaintiffs on their RLUIPA claim, and Nevada ultimately settled the case for $75,000.
