The movants are eight families who received transgender healthcare, for either themselves or their children, through the Children's National Hospital's (CNH) Gender Development Program  from January 1,2020 to the present. Around June 2025, the Department of Justice issued a subpoena to CNH requesting the disclosure of medical and family information related to patients' receipt of transgender care.
