Case Summary

The EEOC's Seattle district office sued Hannah Motors Company and an offending manager, on October 6, 2003 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington. The EEOC's complaint alleged that the defendants violated Title VII when they discriminated against the two intervenors, who intervened in December 2003, based on sex (female) by creating a hostile work environment, discharged one in retaliation for her complaint about her treatment, and constructively discharged the other…
The EEOC's Seattle district office sued Hannah Motors Company and an offending manager, on October 6, 2003 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington. The EEOC's complaint alleged that the defendants violated Title VII when they discriminated against the two intervenors, who intervened in December 2003, based on sex (female) by creating a hostile work environment, discharged one in retaliation for her complaint about her treatment, and constructively discharged the other. The parties settled their dispute through a consent agreement on March 30, 2005. The consent decree stipulated that the defendant would pay the plaintiffs $575,000 in damages, provide EEO training for its employees, post notice of EEO rights, adhere to their EEO policy and report complaints and progress on their compliance with the consent decree to the EEOC semi-annually. The terms of the agreement were to run for 3 years. The docket sheet does not show any further enforcement took place; the case was presumably closed in 2008.
