Case Summary

The Memphis District Office of the EEOC brought this complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee, against Memphis Hotel Owners Limited Partnership, Hotel Management Group, and Shiva Associates. The complaint, filed in March 1997, alleged sex discrimination in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. We do not have an actually copy of that complaint available. Defendant moved for summary judgment in October 1997 but the court never ruled on the motion. The parties entered into a consent decree in March 1998. The decree enjoined Defendant from retaliating in violation of Title VII and required Defendant to pay the charging party $10,000.
