Case Summary

In September 2002, the San Antonio District Office and San Diego Office of the EEOC filed this lawsuit against NBC Management, Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas alleging discrimination on the basis of national origin in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Specifically, the complaint alleged that the defendants failed to hire two job applicants based upon their national origin, Hispanic. Shortly after the defendant filed its answer, the parties settled the lawsuit in June 2003 through a consent decree.

The three-year decree required the defendants to: make compliance reports, promise not to discriminate or retaliate against the complaining parties, develop an anti-discrimination policy, distribute notice of employee rights, provide EEO training, implement a complaint resolution process, and pay $10,000 to be distributed among two individuals.
