Case Summary

The EEOC's Indianapolis district office sued SAC Griffith, Inc., an Indiana corporation d/b/a Pepe's Mexican Restaurant, on August 30, 2002 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana. The EEOC's complaint is unavailable, however the consent decree, filed on April 7, 2004, describes the EEOC's causes of action. The EEOC alleged that SAC violated Title VII when it discriminated against the intervenor employees, who intervened in two groups in September 2002 and August 2003, based on sex (female) when it created a hostile work environment. The consent decree stipulated that the defendant would pay $90,000 in damages to the six intervenors, revise and distribute its EEO policies, post notice of compliance with Title VII, implement EEO training for all employees, and report complaints of discrimination annually to the EEOC. The decree was to last for five years. The docket sheet doesn't show any further enforcement took place; the case was presumably closed in 2009.
