On January 24, 2005, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ("EEOC"), on behalf of female social workers, filed a lawsuit in the Northern District Court of Indiana, under the Equal Pay Act as incorporated into the Fair Labor Standards Act, against School City of Hammond.
