Case Summary

In September 2006, the Chicago office of the EEOC brought this Title VII suit against Compact Industries, Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. The complaint alleged that the defendant discriminated against the female claimants by subjecting them to sexual harassment and constructively discharging some of them. The case settled by entry of a consent decree in January 2007. The two year consent decree required the defendant to refrain from discrimination and retaliation, pay the claimants $325,000, post notice, provide Title VII training for all employees, and keep records and give reports to the EEOC on any complaints of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation received by the defendant. The docket sheet does not show any further enforcement; the case was presumably closed in 2009.
