Case Summary

The Pittsburgh Office of the EEOC brought suit against Charapp Ford South, Inc. in the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania in February 2003. Four complainants brought separate suits against the defendant between January and March 2003 (2:03-cv-00194; 2:03-cv-00195; 2:03-cv-00435; lead case 2:03-cv-00090). None of the complaints are available but the Office of General Counsel Annual Report states that the charging parties were subject to discrimination based on race (African American). The cases were all consolidated September 2003. Each of the private plaintiffs separately settled their cases in October 2003 and the EEOC settled its case with a consent decree in November 2003. The consent decree and the private plaintiffs' settlement provided $135,000 awarded to 4 complainants, an injunction against race discrimination and retaliation, and Title VII training.
